Loving the alien

As someone who grew up at the fag end of 1950-70s tech optimism, I love the fact that the SETI institute (still) exists. Obviously, I have subscribed to their excellent Big Picture Science program, and I’m particularly happy that in a recent episode, they have returned to their core mission: the search for extraterrestrial life.

And apparently, the odds for actually finding something (or someone) are better than ever before (not that I haven’t heard that a great many times before). If you have 50-odd minutes to spare and need something uplifting (or at least want to hear how the Fermi Paradox is actually not at a paradox at all), look no further.
