The good folks over at ECPS invited me to give the opening lecture for their 2023 Summer School on Populism, War, and Crises. This is an interesting, but oddly somewhat underresearched topic. In the lecture, I argue that the concept of crisis is not well defined and has two different (but compatible) meanings that both relate to populist actors. Here are the slides for your edification.
