Less than a year after the election, a third MP in Thuringia has left the AfD caucus in the Landtag, bringing down the number of their MPs to eight. At a continuous rate, the party would be completely gone in two years’ time. [Health warning: That was a joke].

This comes as no surprise: The party leadership in Thuringia favours a more openly right-wing course, a strategy that wasn’t popular with each and every party member in the state. Zeit Online has a piece on a similar rift in the Hamburg caucus.
